De Hofkaemer in Bergeijk is a welcoming local restaurant which serves 80% local produce and has a menu that changes with the seasons. You can enjoy contemporary meals in an easy-going, homely atmosphere. The menu will tell you where the ingredients for your meal came from, but you can also ask the host or hostess for an extra explanation, as a former guest remarked: “The owner gives an extensive explanation about everything and his wife/ the chef is happy to visit your table to listen to special requests. Vegetarians and vegans are pampered here, too. In other words, an absolute must for everyone visiting the Kempen region.”

More than 100 kinds of beer
The local dishes are accompanied by very good wines, but you can also choose from more than 100 different kinds of beers, such as Westvleteren XII, seen by many as the best beer in the world. But of course there are also many local beers, such as La Trappe from Berkel Enschot, Sint Servattumus spelt beers from Schijndel, Van Moll beer from Eindhoven and beer from Museum Brewery De Roos in Hilvarenbeek. There is also a Hofkaemeraad, which was brewed to mark De Hofkaemer’s 15-year anniversary; another delicious beer from the Kempen region. It’s no wonder that the restaurant won the Beer and Gastronomy Award.

Experience De Kempen
A visit to De Hofkaemer can be perfectly combined with a visit to Weverij (weaving mill) de Ploeg, which was designed by the famous Dutch furniture designer and architect Gerrit Rietveld and is located in the Ruys Park. Bergeijk is known as “the Rietveld village”, which is apparent from, for example, the Rietveld clock and a shelter designed by Rietveld. And the pavement café in front of De Hofkaemer has been decorated in Rietveld’s style De Stijl.

The rich history of Bergeijk and De Kempen is showcased in several museums. In Het Teutenhuis you will find the Cultuurhuis and the Eichamuseum. A walk through Natuurtuin (natural garden) ’t Loo or a visit to the welcoming Bakery Museum De Grenswachter is also highly recommended.

Brabant Bicycle Café
De Hofkaemer is an official Brabants Fietscafé; a Brabant Bicycle Café. In these bicycle cafés, cyclists are made to feel especially welcome! You can stop by for a delicious bite to eat or a refreshing drink, and make use of facilities such as a repair kit, bicycle pump and e-bike charging station.
