The charming menagerie of farm animals at De Smulhoeve lies a stone’s throw away from the Loon and Drunen Dunes National Park and a ten-minute walk from the Efteling theme park. This unique recreational location in Kaatsheuvel is a unique horse farm, where families with children often have a difficult time saying farewell to the horses, alpacas, goats, chickens, pigs, rabbits, cats and dogs after a wonderful holiday. In the words of guests Karlijn and Ilse: “We had a wonderful week. For the kids, it was like coming home and they enjoyed it immensely. Many tears were shed when we had to leave. Thank you, Karin, for this superb week. It was memorable. You are great.”

Care ponies and pony walking
This charm is given an added touch if you book your own care pony together with the tent. You can groom the pony, pet and hug it, as well as ride it in the paddock. De Smulhoeve has two paddocks and a specially constructed, new trail on its own property. You can follow this awesome trail, safely fenced off with wooden fences, with ponies and alpacas. There are several (horseback) riding options on and around our own property. One option is to explore the nearby Loon and Drunen Dunes on our weekly walk through the woods, riding a pony led by a parent. This magnificent piece of nature with its drifting sand is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands.
Luxury glamping
Not only the animals are well cared for here! As a guest in one of the nineteen luxury farm-glamping tents, you will most likely enjoy yourself just as much. De Smulhoeve is a member of FarmCamps and is therefore a 100% kid-proof, informal alternative to large-scale campsites or holiday parks. The tents all have their own toilet facilities and are equipped with real beds. Guaranteed enjoyment!
